Alex McKie

(27th March 1956 – 8th June 2013)

A woman of many talents

Alexandra (always known as Alex) McKie was truly a multi-talented person.

For all the success that she had in her metropolitan career, working in the UK and internationally with top advertising and research companies, Alex was also very much the daughter of a farming family, and intimately familiar with rural lives and the pressures of running a farm.

This ability to inhabit different worlds gave her great insight that, combined with the sheer range of her abilities - a powerful intellect, excellent craft skills, and a great sense of design - made her so special, both professionally and personally.

Alex was blessed with great talent and worked hard to develop her capabilities, but perhaps her greatest talent was as a daughter, sister, friend and colleague.

She was great company, unfailingly loyal and truly concerned for the well being of others and, as such, she is hugely missed.

Alex’s Journey is a selection of highlights, photographs and artworks, from ‘A Snapshot of Britain’ that Alex McKie spent nine years and 50,000+ miles researching.
